From day one, a friendly bee appeared on the boxes and in advertisements, designed by the Minneapolis-based agency Dean Creative . This mascot remained nameless for 20 years ! In 1999 , General Mills launched a national contest to name it. Kristine Tong , an 11-year-old student from Coolidge, Texas, won the contest with the name " BuzzBee ."
