Chef Larry named his sauce Sweet Baby Ray's in honor of his little brother David, who got the nickname shootin' hoops on the west side of Chicago. On the day of the rib-off, Sweet Baby Ray's beat out nearly 700 contest entrants, a feat for an unknown. Since then he has decided to create several sauces, no less than 20 flavors exist in the catalog of the American brand.
