Dr. Oetker colour gels are more concentrated than liquid colours: they colour without making the mixture runny, which makes them handy for buttercream and sugarpaste. Blue is great for skies, seas or a gender reveal cake, and turns green when mixed with yellow. Its colour comes from brilliant blue FCF.
How to use it: knead the tube, snip the end with scissors, then add the gel a little at a time, stirring well between each addition. For sugarpaste, knead well after each addition. According to Dr. Oetker's guide, one tube colours about three 18 cm sponges in a bright shade, or more than 12 in pastel, and about 18 cupcakes in bright, more than 100 in pastel.
The colours in the range can be mixed together to create new shades. Explore the full Dr. Oetker range at Pop's America.
Glucose syrup, sugar, water, gelling agent (carrageenan), colour (brilliant blue FCF (E133)), acidity regulators (lactic acid, acetic acid, sodium lactate), preservative (potassium sorbate).
Warnings : Not suitable for children under 3 years. Choking hazard.
Dr. Oetker Food Colour Gel Blue in a 15g tube is a highly concentrated blue gel food colour. A few drops are enough to colour buttercream, icing, cake batter or sugarpaste, in bright or pastel shades.
