Cotton candy was invented by a dentist in the United States in the 1890s! William Morrison teamed up with a confectioner, John C Wharton and together they created a sweet that still delights all taste buds today. In 1897, the very first electric candy machine was patented. Originally it was a metal bowl with a rotating head that contained small holes. Once the sugar is melted and reduced to a syrup, centrifugal force allows the syrup to pass through the small holes and solidify instantly. As the syrup cools quickly, the sugar does not crystallize but becomes solid. Thanks to this cotton candy machine , young and old alike will be amazed by this law of physics!
