Buckwud Classic Canadian Maple Syrup embodies the authenticity of Canadian maple syrup in its purest form. The single ingredient – 100% pure Canadian maple syrup – guarantees an uncompromising taste experience. This Grade A Amber syrup (amber in color, rich in flavor) boasts a clear, golden amber hue and a smooth, silky texture. The flavor profile reveals characteristic notes of butterscotch , delicate toffee, and that distinctive maple flavor impossible to replicate artificially. The sweetness is deep and complex, never cloying, with a long and satisfying finish.

Pure maple syrup is obtained exclusively by concentrating the sap of the sugar maple tree (Acer saccharum). In the spring, when the nights remain frigid but the days are warming, the sap rises in the trees and can be harvested. It takes approximately 40 liters of sap to produce just one liter of syrup – this natural concentration explains the richness and intensity of the final product. The sap is boiled in evaporators until it reaches a sugar density of 66%, at which point it transforms into syrup. The Amber grade corresponds to a mid-season harvest, offering the perfect balance between delicacy and intensity.

Ideal for topping your pancakes, waffles, crepes, and French toast for Sunday brunch. Perfect on yogurt, porridge, ice cream, and desserts. Excellent in baking as a sugar substitute (use 2/3 syrup to 1 cup of sugar, reduce liquids by 1/4). In savory dishes, it enhances marinades for bacon, sausages, and chicken, roasted vegetables, BBQ sauces, and salad dressings.

Tip : Add a spoonful to your coffee for a natural sweetness that dissolves perfectly. Make a quick glaze by mixing maple syrup and Dijon mustard for your grilled meats. For a signature cocktail, stir it into an Old Fashioned or Whiskey Sour. Once opened, keep refrigerated and consume within 4 weeks.

The name Buckwud originates from the Algonquin word " sinzibuckwud ," meaning "drawn from the woods"—the term used by the First Nations of Canada to refer to this precious sweet liquid they harvested long before the arrival of European settlers. The tradition of "sugar season" dates back millennia: Indigenous peoples, including the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Mi'kmaq, tapped maple trees and collected the sap in birchbark containers. They concentrated it into syrup either by letting it freeze (the water would freeze and separate from the sugar) or by dipping hot stones into it. This sacred tradition celebrated the changing seasons and strengthened community bonds. French settlers learned these techniques and developed the "sugar shacks" that have become emblematic of Quebec culture. Today, Quebec produces over 70% of the world's maple syrup , with some of the strictest quality controls in the world. Buckwud was introduced to the UK market as a premium brand and has become the UK's No. 1 branded maple syrup, with over £5 million in sales and 33.8% growth in 2020, the year it won the Great Taste Award . The brand is owned by Valeo Foods (which also owns Rowse Honey), which strengthened its presence in the sector by acquiring Quebec producer Les Industries Bernard & Fils in 2022 – a family business producing pure maple syrup since the 1800s. Gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian. 100% natural, with no additives or preservatives. Product of Canada. 250g jar.
