After working as a dairy farmer and foreman for Milton S. Hershey's company, H.B. Reese decided to start his own business and founded the H.B. Reese Candy Company in 1923 in the basement of his home in Hershey, Pennsylvania. From the beginning, Reese used Hershey Company chocolate to make his desserts. Thanks to the great success of his Reese's Peanut Butter Cups , designed toward the end of 1928, Reese decided to discontinue production of all his other candies.
