In the USA they have been legendary for over 100 years. Everyone has tried Red Vines candy at least once. Red Vines has been marketing its candies since 1914. The brand's first candy was the Black Licorice Twist created by Martin Kretchmer with his son and son-in-law in Chicago. Beginning in 1925, the American Licorice Company moved to California.
It was only from 1950 that the legendary Red Vines Original Red Twists appeared, taking the place of black licorice. Since then, the brand has offered different versions of its licorice, each as good as the next.
